Getting the fit right when you buy online

Buying clothes online is mostly a question of knowing your own measurements and reading the page carefully. Both take about ten minutes to sort out once.

Measure the piece you already own

The most reliable reference is not your body, it is the item in your wardrobe that already fits. Lay it flat and measure chest across the widest point, shoulder seam to shoulder seam, sleeve from shoulder seam to cuff, and the total length from the base of the collar. Write the four numbers down and keep them on your phone.

Read the fit note, not just the size

Sizing is not standard across the market, so a large is only a starting point. Where a piece runs slim or relaxed, it is stated on the product page. If it says true to size, order your usual.

Shoulders decide it

If the shoulder seam sits where your shoulder ends, the rest can be adjusted. If it does not, no alteration will rescue it. This is the one measurement worth being strict about.

Between sizes

On knitwear and jersey, size down for a closer line. On shirts, jackets and anything worn over something else, size up. You can always take a body in, you cannot add fabric back.

If it is not right

Every order can be returned within 30 days of delivery, unworn and with tags attached, for a full refund. Details are on our returns page, and our team answers sizing questions Monday to Friday at support@zoduma.com.
